Under the City Charter, Albany’s Treasurer is the City’s “Chief Fiscal Officer.” The Treasurer is responsible for the collection, receipt, care and custody of all taxes and monies due the City and is also responsible for payment of all vouchers, claims, payroll and other authorized disbursements. As Albany’s Chief Fiscal Officer, the Treasurer oversees investment and debt management as authorized by State and local law. The City Treasurer is responsible for the preparation of the City’s financial statements. In addition, the Treasurer supervises Albany’s Parking Violations Bureau and computer services department. Sheehan became Albany’s City Treasurer on January 1, 2010. She came to office with a strong record of success in her career and a history of involvement in community organizations and Albany’s public schools. Kathy is a magna cum laude graduate of Albany Law School, where she distinguished herself as a note and comment editor for the Albany Law Review. She received her B.S. in Journalism, cum laude, from Bowling Green State University. She was a member of the senior management team at Intermagnetics General Corporation (Nasdaq: IMGC), a leading medical device manufacturer based in the Capital Region. When IMGC was sold to Philips Medical Systems in 2006, it had annual sales in excess of $300M. As vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, Kathy participated in strategic planning and key decision-making regarding the direction of the business. She also advised the company and its board of directors on corporate governance, securities law compliance, mergers and acquisitions and other legal matters. Kathy currently serves on the board of the St. Vincent DePaul Apartments, a HUD housing project for senior citizens and disabled adults located on Yates Street in Albany. She is a trustee of St. Vincent DePaul Church, and a member of the Restructuring Committee for Albany High School. Kathy also serves on both the Board and the Executive Committee of Proctors Theater. She formerly served as treasurer of the New Scotland Elementary School (formerly School 19) PTA, on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of Albany and the Deans Advisory Council at Albany Law School. Kathy received the 2006 Albany Law School Distinguished Alumni Award and was a 2002 recipient of the Business Review’s “40 under 40” Award. Kathy and her husband, Bob, were married at St. Vincent DePaul Church in Albany in 1992. They live in the 8th ward with their son, who attends public school, and their dog, Ozzy. Kathy is an avid reader and frustrated gardener who enjoys swimming, skiing, ice skating, hiking, bicycling and walking. Financial Statements
