Hon. Lester Freeman
Lester Freeman is serving his first term in the Albany Common Council as the elected representative of Albany’s Second Ward.  Councilman Freeman is part of the largest freshman class ever elected to the Albany Common Council, with 6 new council members.

Councilman Freeman is a native of the City of Albany.  He is the youngest son of Mary Freeman and Lester Mosley both residents of Albany, New York.  Lester attended Albany Public Schools and graduated from Albany High School with letters in varsity football and Section II Honors for Track and Field.  Lester has an Associate of Arts degree from Morrisville State College and Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Stony Brook University in Long Island, NY.  He holds Certification in Equal Employment Law from Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations.

In 2008, Lester Freeman became a candidate for Congress in the 21st district of New York.  He challenged seven other democratic candidates for the congressional seat once held by Congressman Michael McNulty.  Lester’s candidacy changed the tone of the debate from suburban to urban issues affecting the cities of Troy, Schenectady and Albany, New York.  Lester participated in several media covered debates across the 21st district before suspending his candidacy in July.

Councilman Lester Freeman is Vice-Chair of the Human Resources and Human Rights Committee, and serve as a member on the Housing Community Development and Finance Committees.
